Regulation 1223\/2009, which prohibits testing on animals both raw materials used and finished cosmetic products. In particular, it has not been possible to test finished cosmetic products on animals since 11 September 2004. European legislation provides that if the minimum shelf life of the cosmetic product is more than 30 months, it is not mandatory to label it. In this case, however, there is an obligation to indicate on the label the period of time during which the product, once opened, can be used without harmful effects for the consumer.
